Sports and fitness have always been a way of life for Danielle. She was a competitive gymnast throughout high school, competing as a nationally-ranked level 10 gymnast in New Jersey. Danielle graduated from George Washington University, a Division 1 school; she was part of their gymnastics team, and also spent a year with the crew team. She has always remained active, whether it was working out in a globo gym, doing obstacle races, personal training, coaching gymnastics, or even competing in several fitness/figure competitions. Danielle came across CrossFit in 2013. "I came into CrossFit thinking, 'I got this, how hard can it be?’ I was a gymnast, after all. And then I did a WOD and thought I was going to die! So naturally I signed up." After throwing all of her misconceptions about CrossFit out the window, Danielle was hooked. She hasn’t looked back.
Her background in gymnastics enabled her to excel at CrossFit. In the summer of 2013 we asked Danielle to join the Muscle Farm coaching staff, becoming our first female coach and competitive CrossFitter. She’s currently training as a competitive weightlifter with Pablo Roman, and is the 2014 63kg and 2015 69kg Florida Weightlifting Federation State Champion. "I love showing people that you can do anything you set your mind to. What pushes me to do more every day is the desire to break stereotypes that claim that women shouldn't lift heavy weights or spend so much time at the gym.” Finding CrossFit and Olympic weightlifting has inspired her to help other people find their passion for fitness and a healthy lifestyle. Danielle has been both member and coach, and has gained the respect of our community, who sees her dedication day in and day out. "I enjoy what I do, as an athlete and a coach. I think it's an important part of being able to relate to our members. I want them to see that we don't just push them; we push ourselves too, hoping that someone will be inspired along the way. You don't do what we do if you don't truly love it." Danielle encourages everyone to try CrossFit at least once. "It may not be for you, but you'll never know unless you try...and who knows, you may fall in love with it!"
